A MESSAGE & An invitation from pastor Meyer

FOR MEMBERS, FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, & ALL

February 2018

Greetings in Christ!

It’s hard to believe that we’re already nearing the season of Lent! It seems that we just celebrated Christmas, yet on February 14th (Valentine’s Day) the season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday.

Traditionally, the season of Lent has been a season of repentance and a time to spend some extra time in God’s Word.  This season, we’re going to use this special season of the church year a little bit differently, yet in a way that is consistent with the way the church has historically observed Lent.

On Ash Wednesday we will have an Ash Wednesday service at 7:00 PM.  But in the Wednesdays that follow, instead of a service each Wednesday at 7:00 PM, we’ll be using that time to do a congregation Bible Study together on the subject of membership.  I’m asking everyone that can possibly make it to be there so that we, as a congregation, can all benefit from this study of what it means to be a member of a congregation.

Each week we’ll have a soup supper beginning at 6:00 PM, then begin our time of study together at 7:00 PM.  We’ll begin with everyone together in the sanctuary, singing a hymn or two, then we’ll break out into small groups for the study, before finishing up together for a short time of prayer.

The color of purple during the season of Lent reminds us that soldiers mockingly called Jesus a king, but reminds us also reminds us that Jesus truly is the king.  By participating in this study we’ll learn better how to honor Christ as our King by being faithful members of His Kingdom through faithful membership in His Church.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  I truly look forward to this opportunity for us to grow as a congregation during the coming season of Lent!

In Christ,

Pastor Meyer
